About Business Development Manager Graeme Leslie

Company Role / What do you do at NSD Labels?

Business Development Manager. I am also part of the new senior management team. This gives me a voice and a place at the table on the direction of the business, investment needed and what added value opportunities can we offer to help take the business to the next level.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?

I have worked in the whisky/drinks industry for over 15years. I initially worked as a co-packer and I learned about working with glass, packaging and labels. I am passionate about the industry and being involved in it.

What do you like about working at NSD Labels?

Everyday is different and some days are really challenging. I also enjoy working with all the people as they are a great team and support to what we are trying to do within the business.

What is something customers in your industry are challenged with that you can help with /fix?

Our customers are challenged by a few things just now, extended lead-times and material shortages. NSD Labels are in a great position in that we bought stock in before the shortage bit in, thus allowing us to offer quick turn around times. We can hold stock for our customers and work with them on a Kanban system where we manage their buffer stock so that their production lines don’t stop. We have also seen our customers coming to us looking for more sustainable and recyclable products, which fits well with our business model as NSD Labels has already been working with many suppliers in looking into this . We have materials that are part made from grass, have rock fibres in it and material with bamboo running through it.  Our customers are also looking for something different for their product. How can they stand out in the market place? NSD Labels reacted to this and invested over £1.2m in the latest print and converting equipment, hired two excellent in-house designers to help customers with design and artwork amendments and with 163 years’ experience NSD Labels, are in a terrific position to find our customers that “different solution” for their labels.

What’s your background?

Living in Inverclyde I worked in the electronics & production industry for many years. With the rapid decline of that industry I moved into recruitment for a few years and fell into the whisky/drinks industry through recruiting for a drinks company and caught the bug…I have been involved ever since.

What are the values that drive you?

Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. Go that extra mile to help customers and to make life easy for them.

Favourite quote

That old cliche fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Still works for me.
