NSD Labels Flexo Apprentices Sam & Fraser

At NSD Labels we believe that it is important to nurture and encourage young talent and are delighted to have Flexo apprentices Sam Davis and Fraser Galloway in our team. Both work alongside our experienced printers to learn and understand the label printing process. 18 year old Sam joined the company following his father Robert, Shift Supervisor at NSD, put him forward for the role. Sam has suffered for many years with epilepsy and has undergone major brain surgery. This had not deterred him from undertaking and excelling in his apprenticeship with us.

Sam commented; “I am delighted to have overcome many personal barriers to undertake my apprenticeship, with the main obstacle being my own Epilepsy. My apprenticeship has not only given me confidence, I have also found my professional passion. I want apprentices and employers alike, to know that there are no limits to what can be achieved with an apprenticeship even when you have a health condition.”

Fraser Galloway is also 18, local to Dalkeith and has always known someone who has worked at NSD Labels. He was informed by Barry Guild, Digital Manager, who had previously coached him at football, that there was an apprenticeship role available, he applied, was given the opportunity and hasn’t looked back. Fraser’s enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge are what allows him to excel in his apprenticeship.

Fraser commented; “I really enjoy my apprenticeship with NSD Labels. I have already learned so much. I love the challenges that the role brings and enjoy working in the fast-paced printing environment as it has taught me what I need to achieve and the time scale something needs completing. When I first started I spent a period of time in each different print department. This was a great way of learning about how print works. The life skills which I am learning will help me throughout all of my life.”
