Graduate trainee Steven joins the team

At NSD Labels we believe that it is important to take on young talent and are delighted to welcome Steven Whitehead to our team. Steven has joined us in a new graduate role as HP Indigo Operator & DFE Trainee.

He is being mentored by the highly skilled printing team, who will train him to the high standards required. Having only been with the business a short time, Steven’s colleagues are extremely pleased with his progress and performance.

Where did you study?

I studied Digital Media and Interaction Design at Edinburgh Napier University.

Company Role

HP Indigo Operator & DFE Trainee

Why did you choose to work at NSD Labels?

NSD seemed really welcoming from my first visit and looked to be a great introduction for me into print. I saw an opportunity to work practically and with design, giving me a good variety in my working day.

What training are you receiving?

A little bit of everything! My supervisor, Barry, has been training me on everything from daily maintenance of the HP Indigo to preparing production files to be loaded onto the press.

Can you tell us about the team you work with?

I have joined a great team in the Digital Production department. They have all been supportive and I have learned a lot from them so far.

What do you enjoy most in your role and what do you find most challenging?

I enjoy the variety of jobs that come through that I get to work on as well as the practical hands-on work which I find really rewarding. The most challenging part is when the printer has more complicated issues I’ve yet to learn how to solve!

What motivates you?

Learning new things, improving my skills, and reaching a level where I can pass my knowledge onto others.

What are the values that drive you?

Integrity, Initiative, and Innovation.
